Teaching responsibilities
•Part of a team engaged in the development and operationalizing of a curriculum for MSc programme in speech and language therapy that commenced in 2016.
• Lecturing MSC student speech & language therapists.
• Supervision of student speech & language therapists on placements.
• Clinical co-ordinator on the MSc speech & language therapy programme. Responsible for clinical education.
•Coordinates examinations in the Department of Audiology, Speech and Language Therapy as the Examination Officer for the department
April 2013 – February 2020:
Speech and Language Therapist, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (2 day a week) Temporary – Part-time
Responsibilities:
• Assessing children and adults with a wide variety of speech, language and/or communication difficulties, including autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, developmental delay, language delay/disorders, dyspraxia, dysphasia, and dysarthria.
• Managing and planning both direct and indirect treatment for persons with speech, language and/or communication difficulties.
• Counselling and advising parents, carers and other professionals on how to support children with speech, language and/or communication difficulties.
• Consultation and engagement within the multidisciplinary team.
• Education of health professionals on communication and swallowing difficulties, and management approaches.
• Development of clinical systems in a newly operating clinic.
Note: This two day per week clinical service provision to the teaching hospital is a key component of the role within The University of Ghana, and is mandated by the College of Health Sciences.
