Researchers at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, University of Ghana and the Department of Agricultural Economics, Kansas State University have secured funding to explore the effect of strategic alliances in the agri-food sector and its competitiveness.

The project is funded by USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service under the Scientific Cooperation Research Program.

The principal investigators of the research are Dr. Abigail Ampomah Adaku, University of Ghana and Prof. Vincent Amanor-Boadu, Kansas State University. The project will contribute to knowledge about the gaps and challenges facing the agri-food supply chain in Ghana in its attempts to improve inter-organizational relationships with the view to enhancing overall competitiveness.  The project will explore the business and institutional factors that constrain agri-food sector firms from leveraging their collective strengths to enhance their operations, profitability, and overall effectiveness. The support we get from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Ghana and the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University enables us to work towards improving performance in Ghana’s agri-food sector,” Prof. Amanor-Boadu added. .  The investigators expressed their gratitude for the financial support from the United States Department of Agriculture and operational support from the Ghana Ministry of Food and Agriculture and several Ghanaian companies.
