The Ama Ata Aidoo Short Story Competition

The Centre for Gender Studies & Advocacy, University of Ghana, announces an Ama Ata Aidoo Short Story Competition as part of its 10thAnniversary Celebration. This competition will be in honour of Prof. Ama Ata Aidoo for her multiple roles as a pan-African feminist, an author, poet, playwright and academic as well as her contribution to Africa's renaissance.

 

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to contest and win the Prize, a person must be an African and a currently registered student of the University of Ghana or must have graduated within the past five (5) years (2011-2016).

ENTRIES

Each participant must submit Three (3) copies of a full-length original unpublished short story with a maximum 5000 words. The story should have a strong female protagonist. Stories must be typed, double spaced and in Times New Roman 12 point font.

SUBMISSION

Short Stories (in Microsoft word format, printed on one side of A4 sheets and soft-bound) should be submitted to:

DEADLINE

The deadline for the submission of short stories is July 10, 2016.

 

THE PRIZE

The winner will be awarded a laptop and airtime on a radio station. The two runners up will each receive a tablet. The ten best stories will be published.

 

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNER

The 3 prize winners will be announced on August 10, 2016. The prizes will presented at a ceremony to be held in honour of Prof. Ama Ata Aidoo on August 27, 2016.
