About

Florence Christianah Awoniyi is a lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education, School of Education and Leadership, College of Education, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana. She has been a formator of teenagers and young adults for over 20 years in many schools, both in Ghana and Nigeria. In addition, she had taught at all three levels of the educational system. She has twenty years of experience in teaching at secondary/senior high schools, both in Nigeria and Ghana. She has previously lectured at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, for six years and has since 2020 been lecturing at the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.

Education

She holds a Doctorate and a Master of Philosophy degrees, both in Mathematics Education from the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree (in Mathematics and Education) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Research Interest

Her principal research interests are in the fields of mathematics education and teacher development. This includes but is not limited to: Affect in Mathematics Education, Relationships in the Mathematics Classroom, Assessment in Education, Teaching and Learning of Mathematics Content, Concept Development in Mathematics, Teacher Development, Gender Balance in the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics, Educational Statistics, Mathematics Teacher Education, Improving the Appreciation of Mathematics Topics, Scholarships and Internationalisation, Stress, and STEM Education
