About
Dr. Abigail Ayiglo-Kuwornu is an experienced language educator with a strong background in Linguistics and English language teaching. She holds an MPhil in Linguistics and a PhD in Teaching English as a Second Language. Her expertise is in the areas of early bilingual literacy acquisition, bilingual education, second language assessment, English teacher education and development, L1 influences in academic writing, early childhood education and social factors affecting language and literacy development among children. Dr. Ayiglo-Kuwornu also has extensive work experience at the University of Professional Studies, Accra. Prior to that she held graduate assistantship and part-time positions at the University of Ghana in the Department of Linguistics, the Language Centre and the School of Continuing and Distance Education. She is currently collaborating on two research projects in literacy acquisition among Jehovah’s Witnesses and teacher education curriculum in Ghana.
