Research Interest

Dr. Acheampong’s research interest lies in the mathematical modeling of problems in the environment, industry, health, and socio-economic sectors using systems of deterministic and stochastic differential equations. His research is strongly interdisciplinary, in which he collaborates with researchers from mathematical sciences, chemical engineering, pharmacy, biosciences, and social sciences.  He uses his statistical and mathematical modeling expertise to process complex data sets to understand and find sustainable solutions to complex systems that exist. Modeling these complex systems lead to finding solutions to inverse problems. Such problems are characterized by their intrinsic variabilities, which may be associated with model parameters, inputs, and outputs. His recent research focuses on mathematical modeling, statistical estimation, and uncertainty quantification analysis of biological processes with a particular focus on infectious disease modeling and emerging pollutants removal from wastewater treatment.
