SIREC Celebrates Prof. (Mrs.) Dilys Sefakor MacCarthy on Her Promotion to Professor
The Soil and Irrigation Research Centre (SIREC), University of Ghana, proudly congratulates Prof. (Mrs.) Dilys Sefakor MacCarthy, Head of Centre, on her well-deserved promotion to the rank of Professor of Plant Nutrition.

This remarkable achievement reflects her outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and leadership in the areas of plant nutrition, soil fertility, and climate-resilient agricultural systems. Prof. MacCarthy’s work continues to have significant impact on improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and advancing climate-smart agriculture in Ghana and beyond.
Her promotion also marks a historic milestone, as she becomes the first female Professor of Plant Nutrition and the first female Professor within the School of Agriculture at the University of Ghana. This accomplishment serves as an inspiration to many, particularly young scientists and women in agriculture.
