Mr Michael Opare Atuah is a seasoned university administrator with nearly three decades of experience in higher education management and leadership. He has served the university in several senior leadership positions, including Deputy Registrar and School Administrator of the School of Graduate Studies, College Registrar of the College of Health Sciences, and Executive Secretary/School Administrator of the University of Ghana Medical School and the School of Medicine and Dentistry. He began his career at the university in 1998 and has since distinguished himself through his contributions to academic governance, strategic planning, institutional development, and administrative leadership.
His academic credentials include a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree (Second Class Upper Division), a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Management, and a PEQD Certification from the Chartered Institute of Administration and Management Consultants.
Since his engagement with the university, Mr Atuah has undertaken numerous leadership assignments and has consistently demonstrated strong competencies in institutional leadership and management with a proven ability to oversee complex administrative operations while ensuring efficiency, accountability, and compliance with university policies and regulations. His expertise spans strategic planning, university governance, human resource management, policy implementation, and institutional transformation. He has played a significant role in mentoring and developing administrative professionals and support staff, many of whom now occupy senior positions across universities in Ghana. He has also served as an external assessor for several Ghanaian universities, contributing to quality assurance and institutional excellence within the higher education sector.
Mr Atuah's exemplary service has earned him numerous awards and recognitions, including a Citation for Outstanding Contributions and Outstanding Leadership (2024), a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to the University of Ghana Dental School (2024), a Citation for Sterling Performance (2022), Best Administrator/Professional in the College of Health Sciences (2011), and the Meritorious Award of the University of Ghana Medical Students Association (2011).
Beyond academia, he is committed to leadership development and youth mentorship through his service as an Elder of the Church of Pentecost. Mr Michael Atuah is married with two children.
