Dr. Vida Korleki Nyawornota
About
Dr. Vida Korleki Nyawornota is a Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Physical Education and Sport Studies Department. Her specialisation is in Physical Education, Sports, and Population Health. She holds a PhD in Population Studies from the University of Ghana, an MPhil in Public Health (Health Policy Planning and Management) from the School of Public Health at the University of Ghana, and a Bachelor of Education in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports from the University of Education, Winneba. She also holds a Diploma in Olympic Education from the International Olympic Academy in Athens, Greece.
Her research interests focus on physical activity in children and adolescents, the built environment, active transport, and youth empowerment through sports. Dr. Nyawornota is an international youth leadership trainer with the Youth Sport Trust Internation UK and played a significant role in delivering training programs and developing sports curricula that empower youth through sports, both in Ghana and internationally. Through her efforts, she has equipped teachers, coaches, and young people with the skills and strategies necessary for effective teaching, learning, and leadership in physical education and sports.
Dr. Nyawornota's involvement as a facilitator in the Special Olympics Inclusive Training in Dubai and Abu Dhabi highlights her dedication to inclusive sports education. These programs have trained teachers and community coaches to effectively support students with diverse needs, ensuring that sports and physical activities are accessible to all children, regardless of their abilities. Her passion is promoting physical activity to combat non-communicable diseases and improve overall health.
