PESS 101: SPORT IN THE MAKING OF THE MODERN WORLD I

This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and knowledge in the multi-disciplinary subject of sport and physical education. I will discuss the enormous dimensions of sport and provide students with the essential underpinning knowledge and understanding for the degree course and career in sport. Topics include the making of sport cultures; the modern city and the making of sport; sport and history on the ground and the middle class colonization and the making of sport.
