The Kumasi City Campus during the year under review embarked on outreach programs to sensitize, support and counsel senior high school final year students in the Ashanti Region. This initiative was to bring the premier university closer to the northern sector.
The first in the series of these outreaches was graced by the presence of Mrs. Yvonne Lartey, the Head of Admission at the University of Ghana, and was ably supported by Mr Fredrick Yuorkuu, Head of Teaching and Examination Unit, on May 22,2024 at the Kumasi Girls’ Senior High School.
This afforded the students the opportunity to interact with the University of Ghana staff and obtain firsthand information about admission policies, cut points, choice of programs, and job prospects.
The team subsequently visited the following schools: Kumasi Anglican Senior High on June 26; the Effiduase Senior/Commercial High School on June 27, 2024; the Armed Forces Senior High School on July 5, 2024; and Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ Senior High School on July 6,2024. Simms SHS, KNUST Senior High, and St. Louis SHS were among the schools that were also visited.
In all these schools, the students and staff were elated to receive information from the premier university and expressed interest in the continuous engagement with the staff of the Kumasi City Campus in the ensuing years.
