To study Computer Engineering at the University of Ghana as an undergraduate student, you generally need a strong science background, especially in Elective Mathematics and Physics-related subjects.
WASSCE/SSSCE Requirements (Ghanaian Applicants)
Credit passes (A1–C6 in WASSCE or A–D in SSSCE) in the 4 core subjects:
- English Language
- Core Mathematics
- Integrated Science
- Social Studies
Credit passes in 3 science electives:
- Elective Mathematics (at least a B3 required)
- Physics
- Chemistry or Biology
Cut-Off Aggregate Score
- Regular Admission: Aggregate 06
- Fee-Paying Admission: Aggregate 07 or better
Note: The aggregate is calculated from your best 6 subjects (4 core + 2 best electives). A lower aggregate score is better (A1=1, B2=2, etc.).
Important Note for Ghanaian Applicants
BSc Computer Engineering at the University of Ghana is a First Choice programme. You must select it as your first option during your application.
International Applicants
Cambridge 'A' and 'O' Level Applicants:
- Three (3) 'A' Level subjects comprising Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, or Biology
- At least five (5) passes including English and Mathematics at 'O' Level
International Baccalaureate (IB) Applicants:
- At least Grade 4 in three (3) HL subjects comprising Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics, or Biology
- At least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL)
- At least grade C in a science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent
WASSCE Applicants (Non-Ghanaian):
- Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and a Science subject (core)
- Credit passes in Further Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics, or Biology (electives)
- Total aggregate not exceeding 07
