CFAS DONATION EVENT- JULY 2023

The Centre for Ageing Studies (CFAS) organized a donation exercise on Monday, 24th of July 2023, with generous sponsorship from Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY). The event was held at the CFAS Conference Room, and the aim was to support some older persons’ organizations that are affiliates of the Centre. These organizations include: Naro Aged Care (Adukrom), Samuel Amo Tobin Foundation, Ma Mere Elderly Home, and Visionary Care Home.

The donation event began at 2:00 pm and was attended by representatives from CFAS, and the affiliated aged homes. The function commenced with a welcome address by the Director of the Centre, Prof. Mavis Dako- Gyeke, who expressed gratitude to all participants for being present. She also emphasized the significance of caring for the elderly in our community.

The items donated were clothes, personal care products, shoes, various medical supplies, and other items to support the healthcare needs of older persons. These items were distributed according to the specific needs of each organizations.

Representatives of the various elderly care homes welcomed the donations with great appreciation and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the items received. They further assured the Centre that the donations will be put to excellent use to improve the lives of their elderly.

In general, the donation exercise organized by the Centre for Ageing Studies (CFAS), with sponsorship from Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY), was a success. The support from all stake holders, as well as the generosity of the donors, demonstrated the Center’s commitment to caring for the elderly.
