About

Dr Shiraz Issahaku is a senior clinical research scientist and a senior medical physicist with Radiological and Medical Sciences Research Institute of Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. Additionally, Dr. Issahaku serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medical Physics and a Part-time Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ghana.

As senior research scientist and senior clinical medical physicist, Dr Issahaku specialized in medical imaging, in the area of advance imaging techniques, radiation protection and other imaging protocols and procedures both in nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology. 

Dr Issahaku has over 50 peer reviewed articles within the last 10 years of his carrier in the area of medical physics and related field. 

Dr Issahaku is the National President of Allied Health Professional and the General Secretary of Ghana Society for Medical Physics in Ghana. Additionally, Dr Issahaku is an associate fellow with International Center for Theoretical Physics in Italy and a consultant to Allied Health Professions Council and International Atomicv Energy Agency.

1. Phantom design and development
2. Establishment of Diagnostic Reference Levels as a tool for radiation dose optimisation procedure
3. Tomographic image processing, reconstruction and protocol designs. 
4. Image Computing, Analysis, Visualisation and Dose Optimisation.
5. High-performance computing for image analysis and display.
6. Multimodal Image Fusion for therapeutic use.
7. Design of novel techniques of Image Analysis and Quality Control based on specific Imaging Equipment.
8. The physics of diagnostic medical imaging systems, with respect to High-speed image acquisition reconstruction and compensation for motion.
9. Medical image analysis in MRI, PET, SPECT and CT with advance application software.
