Research Interest
His main research interests focus on economic issues with relevant application to food and agricultural policy. He uses rigorous microeconomic theory and modern applied econometric methods to understand a range of economic problems with practical significance employing both quantitative and qualitative datasets. His research interests broadly cover the areas of food environment policy analysis, consumer behavior and demand analysis, agricultural finance, agricultural technologies adoption, and agricultural commercialization. He has interest in contributing to a deeper understanding of individual decision-making from a behavioral economics perspective. Consumer behavior is complex and often characterized by deviations from perfect rationality assumption and influenced by several factors, some of which cannot be directly observed by the researcher. In his research, he employs experiments, develops survey tools, and analyze large data sets to better understand the economic decision-making of consumers to generate insights to inform policy.
