UG to Commence camping ahead of 27th GUSA Games

The University of Ghana Sports Directorate will commence camping of student athletes on 13th October, 2022 ahead of the 27th Ghana Universities Sports Associations (GUSA) Games scheduled from 4th to 19th November, 2022 to be hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.

A total of Three Hundred and Two (302) student athletes made up of one hundred and thirty four (134) females and one hundred and sixty eight (168) males will report on Legon Campus for the 3-weeks camping.

These athletes will represent the University in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Football, Goalball, Handball, Hockey, Netball, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball during the competition in Kumasi.

While in camp, the various teams will engage in trial matches as part of the exercise to keep the athletes in good shape and hit the needed form for the Games.

The Sports Directorate has scheduled interactive sessions between the athletes and a number of departments and centers on campus. These include the Departments of Psychology, Nutrition and Food Science, Physiotherapy and the Careers and Counselling Centre. The ancillary services being provided by these outfits aims to augment and support the condition and performance of athletes, coaches and sports organisers of the Sports Directorate.

University of Ghana won 12 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze medals at the 26th GUSA Games hosted by University of Ghana in 2020.
