Academic Qualifications
Dr Patrick Amoateng is currently a lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Pharmacy (UGSOP). Dr Amoateng obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana in 2005 and 2011 respectively. As part of his PhD training, he visited and conducted some experiments at the Health Science Center, Kuwait University, Kuwait in 2009. He holds membership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGh), Commonwealth Pharmacists’ Association (CPA). He is a registered pharmacist in Ghana. He was a recipient of the Pharmacy Law & Ethics Awards and the 3rd Best Candidate in the Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Examination by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana in December, 2006. He has, since 2010, being a member of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE)-Ghana chapter and the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO). He also embarked on a short term Postdoctoral fellowship in 2012 at the Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL, USA and in 2013 he received the CV Raman Postdoctoral Fellowship award from the Government of India. This award was hosted at the JSS College of Pharmacy, Ootacamund (Ooty), Tamil Nadu, India from May-August, 2013.

Research Interests
My research interests are basically in natural products with emphasis on neuropharmacology in the areas of epilepsy, psychosis anxiety, depression, pain and inflammation. He is also interested in investigating the role of antioxidants from natural sources in alleviating diseases originating from oxidative stress. He is currently building capacity in molecular and cellular neurobiology and cancer research.
