This course is a continuation of DIET AND DISEASE II and covers the basic biochemical, physiological and pathological processes in some diseases that are caused by dietary abnormalities and/or require dietary modifications in their clinical management. It aims helping students to develop an understanding of the causes and underlying processes and mechanisms of disease and an appreciation of the methods used to effect an accurate diagnosis and to develop an ability to recognize the clinical signs and symptoms of disease and an ability to communicate this effectively in context. Medical management of the diseases described will be covered.
