Research profile or Interest (Details of Research or Major Projects Undertaken):
Worked as a career researcher in a WHO sponsored Onchocerciasis Chemotherapy Research Center (OCRC) in Tamale and later in Hohoe for 23 years where he performed various laboratory analyses in parasitology, haematology, clinical chemistry, cellular pathology and in-vitro studies relating to the efficacy of drugs on Onchocerca volvulus.
Now teaches pathology related subjects in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences of the University of Ghana, School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences in Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, Ghana.
Conducted and/or participated in various projects including: Antigen retrieval in Immunohistochemistry (1994), Assessment of the viability of adult O. volvulus in tissue sections using enzyme histochemical demonstration of LDH activity (2003), Studies on energy pathways available to adult O. volvulus using immunohistochemical techniques (2010). African Women and Cervical Cancer (April 2008 to April 2010), DEC patch test for detection of onchocerciasis infection (2012)
Current Research Interests
Cytogenetics: 1. Chorionic villus sampling for diagnosis of genetic diseases of unborn babies. 2. Genetic diseases and detection systems.
Tissue and parasite interrelations: studies on tissue parasites and host interrelations using histochemical demonstration methods.
Technical reviews on various histochemical techniques (histological stains, Immunohistochemistry, enzyme histochemistry, in-situ hybridization etc)
Investigation of dye properties of some local herbs. Cola, Dawadawa etc
