Research Focus: Urban Sprawl and its Consequences on Sustainability in Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Area

The research examines the current drivers of sprawl within the context of oil boom; examine the risks and vulnerabilities associated with sprawl, as well as its implication on ecosystem change. GIS and Remote Sensing applications are used to measure the urban heat island effect and trends in land use and land cover changes from 2008 – 2018.
