The theme for this year’s United Nations International Day of Older Persons was DIGITAL EQUITY FOR ALL AGES.  The Press Release covered issues ranging from Ageism and Human Rights, Sustainable Development, Access and Literacy, Cybersecurity and Ethics and lastly, Accountability. It was emphasized that these issues were critical to the wellbeing of older people, hence, there was the need for mandated institutions to put in place appropriate measures to enhance the capacities of older people to thrive in this era of digitalization.

As a closing remark, the Director of the Centre appealed to the Ghana Government and the Parliament of Ghana to pay urgent attention to the Aged Persons’ Bill and expedite its passage into law. She also encouraged the youth in our society to give kind consideration to older persons in all their activities and offer them the requisite support to thrive in this era of digitalization.
