Send-Off Lunch for Professor C. Charles Mate-Kole

The Centre for Ageing Studies organised a send-off lunch for the founding and outgone Director, Professor C. Charles Mate-Kole at the Fiesta Royale Hotel, Accra on August 30, 2021. In attendance was the special guest of honour for the occasion, Professor Samuel Agyei-Mensah, Former Provost of the College of Humanities.  Some members of the Centre’s Management Committee including Professor Augustine Fosu, Dr Akosua Agyemang, Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong, Professor Abena Oduro were present. Current and former staff members of the Centre were also present as well as representatives of some stakeholders (e.g., ArkLifestyle).

Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong opened the program with a prayer. Dr Akosua Agyemang welcomed everyone present and gave the purpose for this august occasion, which was to honour the founding Director as his tenure of office as the Director of the Centre for Ageing Studies had elapsed.

Professor Samuel Agyei-Mensah gave a special address at the program highlighting the progress of the Centre from its inception till date. Dr Akye Esuman, Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong and Professor Augustine Fosu all gave speeches thanking the former Director for his hard work and dedication to the Centre. Professor C. Charles Mate-Kole in turn expressed his profound gratitude to everyone for their presence and support throughout his tenure as Director for the Centre. His showed appreciation to the former Vice Chancellor, Professor Ernest Aryeetey and Professor Samuel Agyei-Mensah for their immerse support in the establishment of the Centre.

A citation and presents consisting of African print clothes were presented to Professor C. Charles Mate-Kole as a farewell gift by Professor Abena Oduro. He was appreciative of the gift. Members present had much to eat and drink including interacting with others.
