Degree Programmes
Our programmes are designed to meet students’ strengths and interests while giving the best learning experiences to inform specialization desires. The diversity of interdisciplinary courses ultimately equips students to know, understand and acquire the requisite skills to address the interconnected challenges of global environmental and climate change.

The Centre runs three graduate programmes on full-time basis:
  • Master of Science in Climate Change and Sustainable Development (over a 12-month period)
  • Master of Philosophy in Climate Change and Sustainable Development (would normally take up to 2 years)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Phd) in Climate Change and Sustainable Development (would take up to 4 years)

MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Both our Master of Philosophy and Master of Science programmes place significant emphasis on research. Students are therefore prepared to acquire the requisite theoretical and experiential insights and capabilities to initiate, implement and complete a research agenda. Our MPhil programme is fundamentally a research degree and gives students on the programme the requisite attention and time to master the art and rigour of advanced research.  Students are supported to complete original research for their dissertation and for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
This training prepares successful students for jobs in industry, government and also in academia. Read More..

PHD IN CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
A PhD programme in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies (C3SS) is essential for several reasons. Firstly, it provides a platform for in-depth research, enabling scholars to investigate the intricate dynamics of climate change and its repercussions on social, economic, and environmental systems. Through rigorous scientific inquiry, this programme will generate cutting-edge knowledge, theories, and methodologies specific to the African context, filling critical knowledge gaps and informing evidence-based policies and strategies. Secondly, the interdisciplinary nature of the programme equips students with a broad range of skills and perspectives, essential for addressing the complexity of climate change and sustainable development challenges. Read more
