VC Hosts Labour MP for Clapham and Brixton Hill and the UK’s Trade Envoy to Ghana, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, and Other Officials

On Wednesday, 26th March 2025, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, hosted Labour MP for Clapham and Brixton Hill and the UK’s Trade Envoy to Ghana, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, along with other officials. The discussions centered on expanding transnational education collaborations and exploring opportunities in research, technology, and innovation, artificial intelligence, and job creation.
The Vice Chancellor expressed UG's enthusiasm for engaging in dialogue and taking action to explore extensive partnerships aimed at achieving global impact, aligning with UG's strategic priority of partnership and engagement.
Hon. Ribeiro-Addy emphasised the importance of strengthening UK-Ghana educational ties and highlighted the UK’s commitment to deepening partnerships, particularly in knowledge exchange and services.
Pro-VC (ASA) Prof. Gordon Awandare and Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice Bawole, highlighted ongoing collaborative efforts with various UK institutions. Prof. Awandare stressed the importance of empowering universities in Ghana to develop human capital and competence in young people for jobs, noting that UG is well positioned to partner in this endeavour.
Also present at the meeting were Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE, Founder and President of GUBA Enterprise; Samuel Kasumu, former Special Advisor to former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson; and Alastair Hellyer, CTO of Archiva.
Other UG officials present included Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah; Director of Research and Innovation Directorate, Prof. David Dodoo-Arhin; Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Elizier Taiba Ameyaw-Buronyah; and Assistant Registrar at the Public Affairs Directorate, Ms. Delali Acolatse.
