UG Vice-Chancellor Engages Student for Open Dialogue and Launches SRC Day of Giving Campaigne

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, has reaffirmed her commitment to open dialogue with students, commending the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for its forward-thinking leadership during this year’s UGSRC Day with the Vice-Chancellor.
Held under the theme “A Legacy of Purpose: Reflecting on the Transformative Student Experience,” the event brought together the University’s leadership and students in a vibrant exchange of ideas on welfare, inclusivity, and the future of higher education at UG.
In her remarks, Professor Amfo described the SRC as “a valuable partner” in advancing the University’s mission, particularly in enhancing student welfare, promoting inclusive education, and supporting mental health initiatives. She expressed delight at the Council’s vision and encouraged the wider University community and stakeholders to support its projects, including the newly launched Day of Giving campaign.
As part of the engagement, the Vice-Chancellor joined other University leaders; Registrar Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Gordon Awandare, and Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Rosina Kyerematen in a panel discussion. Together, they explored key issues such as campus safety, the UG@75 Legacy Project, sports development, and the growth of the University’s student population.
Professor Amfo emphasized that initiatives like the Day of Giving, slated for August 15, 2025 reflect the collaborative spirit that will leave a lasting legacy for the UG community, while underscoring her ongoing commitment to improving the overall student experience.
