The University of Ghana (UG) has received a planning grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to embark on a study tour of teaching and learning centres in selected institutions of higher learning in the USA and South Africa. The grant is to facilitate visits to institutions with established learning centres to interact with officials and learn from their experiences to serve as a guide in designing the proposed centre for teaching and learning at UG.

The planning visit was also meant to foster partnerships with these institutions for collaborations and joint programmes and to facilitate comparability of learning experiences and standards of teaching and learning across centres. The visit took the team to Rhodes University (RU) and Stellenbosch University both In South Africa; and Cornell, Michigan and Minnesota universities in the United States of America.
