International Scientific Network For Sport For Development

Empowered by the German International Corporation (GIZ), the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana (UG) hosted the launching of the International Scientific Network for Sport for Development (ISNSD) which forms part of the 2nd Working Group Meeting of the ISNSD that took place at the University of Ghana from 6th to 9th April, 2014 at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research. The meeting was mooted, supported and financed by GIZ.                       

The overall aim of this partnership initiative is to develop a global and multi-disciplinary network of academic organizations and NGOs for the purpose of contributing continuously to the advancement of Sport for Development projects, programmes and policies. Working towards a collection and analysis of different qualification standards, ISNSD also aims at developing an International Framework for Sport for Development Leaders for the purposes of advocacy, policy development, education and training, as well as implementation and evaluation.
The founding members of INSD are the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), the German Sport University Cologne, the University of the Western Cape, the Organisation of Rural Primary Education Developers, the Breakthrough Chiparamba Sports Academy and the University of Ghana. The UG Director of Sports is the current chairman of ICSSPE and its secretariat is shared between UG and ICSSPE.
