SPORTS DIRECTORATE – 4TH SUMMER CAMP JULY-AUGUST 2021

The Sports Directorate will run the fourth edition of the summer camp from 5th July to 6th September, 2021 on weekdays from 9 am to 3:30 pm at the Sports Directorate. The activities for the camp include Cycling, Football, Swimming and Tennis.

The summer camp is opened to all children and youth between the ages of 5 to 17 years.

The Need for the Camp and Recreation

The vacation is an ideal time for children to benefit more from extracurricular activities after a packed academic calendar as schools had to make room for time lost due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. More so, this will afford parents and guardians room to navigate through their work schedules as their wards also spend quality time to acquire new life skills.

Benefits of the Camp

The summer camp will enable participants to develop the habit of exercising through sporting and recreational activities, enhance their self-confidence and empower them to become independent.

Recent research published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health further corroborates the assertion that physical activity, and social interaction, can be key steps in promoting adolescent health and resilience.

Facilitators

The participants will be taken through the activities by staff of the Wellness and Fitness and Technical Sections of the Sports Directorate.

Registration & Fee Schedule

Interested parents or guardians can pick the registration form at the Sports Directorate or download the form, fill and submit it at the reception. The fees have been subsidized for the members of the University community and the public who have two or more siblings. Click to see the fee schedule and Activities Table.

COVID-19 protocol and logistics

The Sports Directorate has put in place adequate measures to ensure participants adhere to COVID-19 protocols during the camp.

All participants must bring along two masks and their own water bottles, tissues, and snacks or lunch as the case may be.
