The University of Ghana male Basketball Team, back to back winners of the Federation of African Universities Sports (FASU) Games in 2016 and 2018 and unbeaten in the last six years have been knocked out of the ongoing 2022 FASU Games.

An epoch has indeed come to an end according to the Director of Sports, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu. He added the 3 years break due to the outbreak of COVID-19 affected UG as well as all other Universities. It is time to start from where we left off and begin from the national level through to West Africa and Africa again.

The defending champions lost both games in Pool A losing to the host Kenyatta University 64-65 on Tuesday evening and subsequently to University of Johannesburg 62-69 on Wednesday morning.

Mr. Eric Agyapong Ankamah, Coach of the Team bemoaned the missed scoring opportunities that came their way in both games. He added that the indoor facility which is not familiar to his players among other factors affected their game.

The Team upon arrival in Ghana will turn their attention to the Accra Basketball League. They are currently on top of Group A with 13 points.
