The School of Languages and the Language Centre of the College of Humanities, University of Ghana, invite proposals for individual papers, panels and poster sessions for the 3rd School of Languages Conference (SOLCON III), to be held from 22th - 24th October, 2019 at the University of Ghana, Legon Campus, Accra.
The conference which is on the theme "Languages, Cultures and Literatures across Barriers: Africa and the World in Context and Contact" seeks to bring together researchers, scholars, students, and public speakers to discuss the theme and its domains through intellectually-nuanced interdisciplinary papers and presentations.
As part of the conference, a colloquium on the theme will be organized.
The School of Languages and the French Embassy in Ghana are jointly organising A Symposium on Pidgin English in Ghana. This symposium will be part of the School of Languages Conference (SOLCON III) to be held on 24th October, 2019.
You are invited to submit an abstract of approximately 500 words on the following theme “Pidgin English in Ghana as a research object and as a living language. Linguistic, sociologic and historic perspectives”. Each presenter will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and discussions. Please consider the following guidelines when preparing your abstracts for submission:
Abstracts should be single spaced and in Times New Roman 12pt.
Abstracts should be anonymous.
The author’s full name, department and e-mail address should be submitted on a separate sheet.
Abstracts should be submitted electronically in MS Word format (and in PDF if it contains special characters) and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 22nd April, 2019. Abstracts will be peer reviewed, and notification of acceptance will be sent by 15th May, 2019.
