About

Dr. Eunice Abbey is a Senior Lecturer whose work bridges the gap between social science research and health equity in rural Ghana. She holds a PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an MPhil from the University of Bergen, and a BA from the University of Ghana. Prior to working at the University of Ghana, Dr. Abbey was a Lecturer at Methodist University College Ghana. She has over the years taught and supervised students from undergraduate to MPhil levels. Dr. Abbey is a well published researcher whose research interests lie in the areas of Gender, Developmental Issues and Disability Studies. Beyond her academic contributions and service on numerous university and community boards, Dr. Abbey is committed to contributing to the knowledge that addresses the barriers to social justice and health equity for the disadvantaged and poor in rural Ghana. She is particularly interested in exploring how the application of this knowledge could promote positive health behaviors and empower people. Dr. Abbey is a recipient of the prestigious BECHS-AFRICA Fellowship and is currently spearheading a research into death anxiety among mothers raising children with special needs, aiming to provide deeper insights into the psychosocial challenges faced by caregivers.
