Welcome to the Department of Social Work. The Department of Social Work, University of Ghana is part of the School of Social Sciences. Social Work has evolved over the years as a profession that aims at helping individuals, families, communities and institutions to thrive. The profession is committed to the pursuit of social justice, enhancement of quality of life, and development of the potentials of individuals, families, groups and communities. The social work profession promotes social change, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to improve their well-being.

The Department of Social Work continues to be the premier social work training institution in the country.
