Professor Mavis Dako-Gyeke holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from The Ohio State University, USA, and a Ph.D from Texas Woman’s University, Texas, USA. She has a distinguished career in academia with experience from the corporate world. Prior to joining the Department of Social Work, University of Ghana in 2009 as a Lecturer, she held the same position at Texas Woman’s University. She was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor ranks in 2013, 2016, and 2020 respectively. She was appointed the Head of the Department of Social Work from 2014 to 2021, Director, Centre for Ageing Studies in 2021 and Dean of the School of Social Sciences in 2023. She has received research funding and has over fifty peer-reviewed academic publications to her credit. She has contributed significantly to the University of Ghana’s academic life and growth through teaching, research, mentorship, and extension services. She serves on many boards and committees within and outside of the University of Ghana.
