Four students in the Department of Social Work, University of Ghana, went home with brand-new laptops on Thursday, 13th August, 2026, after The Young Innovators, a group pioneered by social work students and alumni of the University of Ghana Department of Social Work, rolled out its "4 Minds, 4 Laptops" initiative on campus.
The donation put four laptops directly into the hands of beneficiaries drawn from the department: two Level 200 students and two Level 300 students. The recipients were Vanessa Bonsu, Albert Ansah, Miracle, and Sandra Yeboah.
Leading the presentation was Jeffery Papa Ankomah, President of The Young Innovators and a current National Service Teaching Assistant in the department. The handover was witnessed by the Head of the Department of Social Work, Dr. Jones Adu-Jyamfi, and senior lecturer Dr. Eunice Abbey, both of whom lauded the gesture as a timely investment in students' academic work.
Several members of The Young Innovators' team were on ground to support the donation. They included Perry Nana Ankomah, junior brother of the Founder; Fredrick Damiyeh, an alumnus of the Department of Social Work; Nabil Ibrahim, a student political activist and fellow alumnus; and Daniel Oppong-Ntim, the group's Public Relations Officer.
The Young Innovators was founded by social work students from the University of Ghana to support their colleagues within the department, and hopes to expand their help to the broader community. The "4 Minds, 4 Laptops" initiative forms part of the group's broader effort to implement what they learn in the real world.
The Young Innovators say more editions of the initiative are expected as the group continues to mobilize support for students in the department.
They are calling on the general public to join them to be able to continue their activities.
