Dr. Angela Anarfi Gyasi-Gyamerah is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology, University of Ghana. She had her secondary education at Wesley Grammar School (Forms 1-5) and Presec Legon (Sixth Form). Her undergraduate, MPhil, and PhD studies have all been at the University of Ghana. She joined the department’s faculty in July 2005. She is a Fellow of Volta Hall and is currently serving on the Hall Council. Prior to her work at the department, she had had several years of field experience working with street youth and commercial sex workers under the auspices of Streetwise Project-Ghana and West Africa Project to Combat AIDS and STI (WAPCAS) respectively.
Dr. Angela Anarfi Gyasi-Gyamerah’s research interests include sexual and reproductive health issues with a current focus on abortion decision-making and cohabitation. She also is a Research Associate on the Representations of Personhood from African Oral Traditions Project under the Reinvigorating Humanities Research at University of Ghana (REHURE-UG) which is a project funded by the Mellon Foundation.
Dr. Angela Anarfi Gyasi-Gyamerah has taught undergraduate courses in Levels 100 (PSYC 112), 200 (PSYC 201), 300 (PSYC 311, 319), and 400 (PSYC 403, 404, 413) from 2005 to 2010 on the University of Ghana’s main and city campuses. She has also taught courses in Levels 300 (PSYC 337) and 400 (PSYC 447, 454) from 2014 till date on the University of Ghana’s main and city campuses. The graduate courses she has taught from 2017 till date are PSYC 662 and PSYC 673.

Dr. Angela Anarfi Gyasi-Gyamerah set up a social advocacy organization in 2017 known as Dialogue Genitalia Ghana (DGG) which focuses on creating safe and bold spaces for the opposite sexes to discuss issues relating to sexuality and sexual and reproductive health. Recently, she added a wing to DGG known as SWAG4Life, which focuses on offering sexual and reproductive health education and psychosocial support to in-school youth within vulnerable communities. SWAG is an acronym that stands for Sexually Woke Advocates Ghana.
