UG Partners with Giz Ghana to Upskill Biomedical Engineers

The University of Ghana through the Department of Biomedical Engineering has entered into a two-year partnership with GIZ Ghana, under the project, ‘Upskilling Biomedical Engineers for Ghana.’

This collaboration aims to deliver mutual benefits through a range of initiatives, including Training of Trainers (ToT), installation of biomedical engineering equipment and devices, support for internship placements, and expansion of the entrepreneurship skills aspect of existing bachelor's programmes as part of a revised curriculum.

To formalise the partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. Representing the University were Professor Gordon Awandare, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, and Professor Samuel Kwofie, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Iris Hammerschick, Team Lead, and Fred Darko Effah, Technical Advisor, signed on behalf of GIZ Ghana.
