Welcome to the Department of Physiotherapy at the University of Ghana.

I welcome you on behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Physiotherapy of the premier University in Ghana. We are excited to be the trail blazers of physiotherapy training in the country.

We have a proud history of BSc in Physiotherapy education which was started in 2000. This is an entry-level four-year professional programme that equips graduates with hands-on clinical skills to practice as independent practitioners in Ghana. Physiotherapy is registered under the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana.

The Department uses a holistic and comprehensive competency-based lifelong teaching approaches for patient care, emphasizing the promotion, prevention, maintenance and restoration of individuals’ physical functioning, as well as communities’ physical, psychological and social well-being.
We are working to become a research-oriented, student-centered Department. The driving principles and goals of our Department are embodied in the mission and vision statements of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana.
