  1. Quality assessment and misuse/abuse of medicines (orthodox and herbal)

Development of analytical methods for the qualitative and quantitative assay of pharmaceuticals (orthodox and herbal medicines) and pharmaceutical contaminants in food.

  1. Detection of levels of paracetamol and para-aminophenol in foods.
  2. Quantitative estimation of aflatoxins in herbal products using high performance liquid chromatography.

     1. Natural product research

Focusing specifically on innovative research to scientifically validate folkloric use of indigenous traditional medicines that will ultimately lead to the discovery of potential lead compounds.

  1. Isolation, identification and characterization of medicinal plant isolates using chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.
  2. In vitro and in vivo activity screening 
  3. Profiling of bioactive constituents of local medicinal plants.
