2014 Annual General Meeting

In July 2014, the University of Ghana hosted the 2014 CAPREx Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Centre for African Wetlands from 2nd – 4th July, 2014. Participants for this meeting included both CAPREx Fellows and members of the Steering Committee within the partner institutions.

The AGM served as an assembly point for the Steering Committee members to discuss critical issues related to the project, whilst providing a platform for the sharing of research findings and experiences by the CAPREx fellows from the African institutions (i.e. Makerere University and the UG).

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey also had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Jennifer Barnes, Pro-Vice Chancellor for International Strategy at the University of Cambridge, Professor David Dunne, Director for the Cambridge-Africa Programme,  Professor Ernest Okello Ogwang, Deputy Vice Chancellor at Makerere University, Professor Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu, UG-CAPREx Project Champion,  and Professor John Gyapong, Pro-Vice Chancellor  for Research, Innovation and Development to discuss issues of mutual interest to further deepen the collaboration between the three institutions.

The AGM also fostered networking opportunities as it provided an avenue for interactions between UG faculty members and faculty members from Makerere University on areas of research interests and possible collaboration between the two universities in the areas of Social Sciences and the Humanities in general.
