Vice-Chancellor Inspects On-going Greening Projects on Campus

On Tuesday July 7, 2020, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, undertook a campus-wide tour to inspect on-going greening projects.

The tour began with an inspection of the greening project at the UG Central Boulevard where grassing was on-going. The Vice-Chancellor expressed the hope of seeing the completion of the project by September 2020.

The tour continued to the environs of the Students Financial Aid Office where pavement blocks were being laid. At the Okponglo Total Fuel Station and the GIMPA-Haatso bypass where squatters had taken over the University’s land, the Vice-Chancellor instructed that the squatters should be served notice of eviction by close of the following week.

The next stop was at the Biogas site at the Hilla Limann Hall where the contractor Rev. Kofi Ahenkora of Beta Construction took the team through the process of producing the biogas. Prof. Boateng Onwona-Agyeman, Coordinator, VC’s Strategic Team on Renewable Energy tasked the contractor to put the facility in shape for the Energy Commission to be able to measure the amount of biogas being produced. This according to him will determine whether the biogas being produced is enough to be used by the restaurant at the hall.

The Vice-Chancellor also inspected on-going beautification works at the main entrance and surroundings of the Sports Directorate. He expressed satisfaction and appreciation to the team members and urged all who had been tasked with various responsibilities to expedite action on them.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by Mr. Charles Kofinti, Director, PDMSD; Professor Andrew Anthony Adjei, Chairman, Vice-Chancellor’s Strategic Teams, Professor Ferdinand Ayeh Kumi, Provost, College of Health Sciences; Prof. Boateng Onwona-Agyeman, Dean, School of Engineering Sciences and Dr. Benjamin D.
