Vice-Chancellor Commissions Adu Boahen Memorial Library and Archive

On Friday 23rd July, 2021 the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, commissioned the Albert Adu Boahen Memorial Library and Archive at the Department of History. The late Emeritus Professor was a renowned historian, academic and stateman.

The Vice-Chancellor was delighted about the timely completion and the quality of the project. In a brief remark, he recounted Prof. Adu Boahen’s academic journey at the University and the contributions he made to the growth of the University whilst serving in different leadership capacities.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that the Adu Boahen Memorial Library and Archive will be stocked with books and other scholarly works of Prof. Adu Boahen as well as other historians.

Prof. E. Ababio Ofosu-Mensah, Head of Department, welcomed the gathering for gracing the occasion and eulogized Prof. Adu Boahen for his outstanding achievements.

The Provost of the College of Humanities, Professor Daniel Frimpong Ofori, commended all those whose efforts had culminated in the completion of the project.

A representative of the Adu Boahen Foundation, Mr. Eric Appiah, expressed appreciation to the University for the opportunity to immortalize the memory of Prof. Adu Boahen. He looked forward to stocking the Library and Archives to serve the University community and the general public.

Reverend Dr. Charles Antwi Boasiako, Chairman of the Chaplaincy Board, performed the dedication, which was followed by unveiling the plaque and a tour of the facility.

The ceremony was interspersed with performances from the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band.
