Vice-Chancellor calls on La Traditional Council

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, together with some members of Senior Management, paid a courtesy call on the La Traditional Council on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.The visit was to formally introduce herself to the leadership of the Council following her appointment and induction as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University.

In brief remarks, Prof. Amfo expressed gratitude to the leadership of the La Traditional Council for the opportunity to meet her; she also extended courtesies on behalf of the Management of the University.

“We have come to present ourselves to you since the University is on your land. So we have come to you for you to know the new leadership of the University and to ask for your blessings and cooperation”, stated the Vice-Chancellor.

She further expressed optimism in engaging the Council for the mutual benefit of both parties as they seek to provide quality education for the youth of the country.

In response, Prof. Nii Ablade Glover, Advisor to the Council, welcomed the University delegation warmly and expressed profound appreciation to the delegation for the visit.

Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, La Shikitele, noted the Council’s readiness to support the University as key stakeholders. He said, “We’ll work together for mutual benefits to ensure development for the University, La State and Ghana as well”. Nii Adjei Koofeh IV assured the Vice-Chancellor of the availability of meeting in the nearest future to interact further on mutually beneficial matters.

General Nii S. A. Odotei, La Dzasetse, was particularly excited about Prof. Amfo’s appointment as the first female Vice-Chancellor. He gave her pieces of advice and prayed for her tenure of office to be a remarkable one.

Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, in charge of Academic and Students Affairs and Provost, College of Humanities, presented some drinks on behalf of the University, as custom demands.

The other members of the La Traditional Council present were Nii Obodai Adai IV, La Mankrah; Nii Yemo Diri II, La Akwaashontse; Nii Kotey Armah IV, Klanaa Akutsotse; Nii Solomon Anum, La Man Otteame; Nii T. T. Aryeh, Stool Secretary and Oko Adjei Mensah, Stool Treasurer.

University officials at this meeting were Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Registrar and Mrs. Elizier T. Ameyaw-Buronyah, Director, Public Affairs Directorate.
