The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, on Monday, November 15, 2021, attended a consecration service organised for final year Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) candidates of the University Basic School (UBS), to usher them into their final examination scheduled for Monday, November 15, to Friday, November 19, 2021 nationwide.

In her welcome address, the Deputy Head, (JHS), Mrs. Christina Armah, extended her heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the Headmaster and the School’s Management, to the Vice-Chancellor and her team for the visit to bless, support and encourage the candidates. Mrs. Armah disclosed that 151 candidates were being presented to sit for the 2021 BECE examinations. Having rigorously gone through the policy for BECE in the University Basic School, she was hopeful that the candidates had been adequately prepared for the examinations.

In brief remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed her delight to share a special moment in the lives of the candidates. She disclosed that she was no stranger to the University Basic School, having held various positions including a member of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), former PTA Executive Committee member, and Board Chair among others. Prof. Amfo was optimistic that having applied themselves diligently to their books over the past few months, and with the ample preparations given by their teachers, the candidates were well equipped for the examinations.

She extended her best wishes to the candidates on behalf of Senior Management, and urged them to emulate the shining examples of the likes of Ms. Audrey Esi Swatson, Ghana’s youngest female pilot and a proud alumna of the University Basic School in order to make the School proud. Prof. Amfo concluded by assuring the candidates of the prayers and support of the entire University community and admonished them to cast away all fear and doubt as they sit for the examinations.
