University of Ghana signs MoU with University of Bristol

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu led a University of Ghana (UG) delegation to visit the University of Bristol (UoB). The visit forms part of a broader strategy to develop and expand a framework of cooperation and collaboration between the University of Ghana and the University of Bristol. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed during the visit in recognition of the shared desire to promote academic cooperation and foster research connections. The signing took place on Wednesday 18 September, in Royal Fort House.

University of Bristol was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hugh Brady and staff from University of Bristol International Office and Research Enterprise Development. The delegation from the University of Ghana comprised Professor Olivia Anku-Tsede (Legal Counsel), Professor Andrew Anthony Andrew (WUN and VC’s Strategic Team Coordinator), Professor Samuel Agyei-Mensah (Provost, College of Humanities) and Dr. Ibrahim Bedi (UGBS).

It is expected that this engagement will result in the development of mutually beneficial programmes, projects, and activities. The two Institutions have had some collaborations through the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) and African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA).

The two institutions look forward to strong collaborations over the next five years with regard to the following key areas.

  • Exchange of teaching staff and researchers
  • Joint development of research projects
  • Joint organization of scientific and cultural events
  • Information exchange (including identification of sources of funding)
  • Sundry exchange and cooperation programs as agreed
