University of Ghana Signs MoU with Three Affiliate Colleges of Education

The University of Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its affiliate Colleges of Education to upgrade the level and standard of education to help correct weaknesses in the delivery of programmes in primary and tertiary institutions.

The MoU which also seeks to uphold teaching skills and upgrade curriculum, was signed with the Accra College of Education, Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education, Amedzofe and Peki College of Education on September 05, 2019.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Academic and Students Affairs, Professor Samuel Kwame Offei, in brief remarks affirmed that, the University was ready to provide the requisite support in diverse ways for the mutual benefit of the institutions involved in this partnership in a bid to improve education generally in Ghana.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor (ASA), Professor Kwame Offei, and the Registrar, Mrs. Mercy Haziel–Ashia signed the MoU on behalf of the University of Ghana while the Principals of the Peki College of Education, Rev. Sylvanus Tettey, Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education ,Amedzofe, Dr. Dickson Tsey; and Accra College of Education, Dr. Samuel Atintono, signed for their respective Colleges.

Present at the ceremony were the Acting Dean, School of Education and Leadership, Professor Jonathan Fletcher, College Secretary, College of Education, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Head, Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies, Professor Reginald Ocansey, Head, Legal Counsel, Dr. Mrs. Olivia Anku-Tsede, Co-ordinator for the B.Ed programme, Dr. Paul K. Butakor, Administrator, School of Education and Leadership, Mrs. Elizier T. Ameyaw-Buronyah, Madam Elizabeth Aikins and Mr. Clement Afriyie Oppong of Accra College of Education, Mr. Henry Agbleze of Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education, Amedzofe and Mrs. Mary Afua Ackummey of Transforming Teacher Education and Learning (T-TEL).
