University of Ghana Signs MOU with IE University

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IE; a university based in Madrid, Spain. The IE African Centre was instrumental in leading the processes up to the signing of the MOU which took place at Brown University in the USA on the sidelines of the tenth Reinventing Higher Education Conference.

The University of Ghana which turned seventy recently has international partnerships the world over and it is expected that the signing of the MOU would kickstart the process of faculty exchanges, student exchanges and research collaborations with units such as the University of Ghana Business School taking the lead in ensuring these collaborations between IE and UG totally bear fruit. The IE Business School and University of Ghana Business School already belong to the Global Network of Advanced Management; which network encompasses other global education giants like the Yale School of Management, UCT Graduate School of Business and the Lagos Business School.

The Vice-Chancellor on the sidelines of the conference also spoke on innovative use of technology and social media in education delivery and the University of Ghana's perspectives on the Global me-to movement. He also noted that on assumption of office nearly three years ago he had declared that it was his vision to make the University of Ghana, the go-to University and as a consequence these international partnerships were assisting in realising those goals.

IE on their part intimated that they were establishing an African Studies Programme and that they would be working with universities like the University of Ghana to embed knowledge of Africa and it's socio-cultural and economic idiosyncrasies into courses taught across the University.
