University Of Ghana Signs Agreement for Legon City Project

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, on behalf of the University has signed an agreement with The Consortium, an architecture, planning and consultancy firm to start work on the new Legon City Project.

Prof. Ernest Aryeetey indicated that The Consortium was selected by the Development Committee of the University Council out of 15 firms that expressed interest in the project. The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that the Legon City upon completion, will be run effectively and efficiently to generate income for the University, while ensuring that encroachers on site are kept at bay.

The Director of The Consortium, Mr. Frank Tackie, said even though this was an honour and a challenge, he was optimistic given his company’s experience and expertise with the building of the Airport City in Accra.   He indicated that the terms of engagement were favourable and provides the flexibility to ensure that the project is duly expedited to the satisfaction of the University.  Mr. Tackie was optimistic of a fruitful collaboration and assured the University of his team’s Professionalism in managing the project.

Present also at the signing were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (ORID), Prof. John Gyapong, the Registrar, Mrs. Mercy Haizel-Ashia, the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, In coming Vice-Chancellor, Ms. Akua Akyaa Arhin, Legal Counsel, Mr. Charles Kofinti and Mr. Ernest Boachie, Deputy Directors at the Physical Development and Municipal Services, as well as lawyers and a team of experts from The Consortium.
