University Basic School Graduates 2022 BECE Cohort

The University Basic School (UBS) has held a graduation ceremony at the Great Hall for pupils who recently wrote the 2022 BECE Basic Education Certificate Examination. 

The Chairperson of School Board, Professor Bernadin Senadza congratulated the Class of 2022, which was made up of 152 candidates, on successfully writing their B.E.C.E. He stated that the graduating class had been taken through very rigorous learning experiences that had adequately prepared them for higher academic pursuits.  

Delivering her address, Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Christina Adwubi Armah, stated that the ceremony was a celebration not only for the graduands, but also for all other pupils and teachers of the School. “Class of 2022 you made it! I am humbled and privileged to be your Head of School”, she stated.

Mrs. Armah thanked the Chairperson and Members of the School Board for their vision, hard work and support, which have immensely contributed to the successful graduation of the pupils. 

She advised the graduating class to possess the virtue of humility as they move on to new phases of their academic journey and life.  

The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, Mrs. Nana Akua Aboagyewaa Ankomah-Asare, Managing Director of Primetime Limited, delivered a speech on the topic, “The habit of excellence”. 

She posited that the action of excellence is not a one-day activity but is an intentional habit and quoted the words of former Brazilian footballer Pele which says, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”

Mrs. Ankomah-Asare shared nostalgic memories of her time as a pupil of UBS. She encouraged the graduating class to learn as much as they can, pay attention to detail and learn from the mistakes they are likely to make as they go through various phases of life.  

On behalf of the School, Mrs. Margaret Kaba, Ghana Education Service Director of the Ayawaso West Wuogon District, presented special awards to some students, who excelled in various national and international competitions. 

Present at the graduation ceremony were Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Registrar; Dr. Samuel Nkumbaan, President of University Teachers Association Ghana, UG Branch and Mrs. Elizier Ameyaw-Buronyah, Director of Public Affairs.
