UG Holds 2nd Edition of Choral Music Festival

The 2nd edition of the University of Ghana’s Choral Music Festival has been held at the Great Hall of the University. This year’s celebration featured performances from the University of Ghana Jubilee Choir, the Department of Music Choral Ensemble, the Ghana National Association of Adventist Students Choir, and the Pax Romana Choir. Other performances were done by guest choirs: Harmonious Chorale and the Symphonials of the Valley View University.

Welcoming participants to the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, noted that the Choral Music Festival was an important event in the schedule of activities on the University academic calendar. He added that the festival was instituted to appreciate and celebrate indigenous Ghanaian music composers, and to as well as use the occasion to delight in the Lord. He lauded members of the University community, invited guests, and the public for responding to the invitation to attend the event.

Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, founder of Salt and Light Ministries

The Guest of Honour, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, founder of Salt and Light Ministries expressed her joy in participating in the festival. She affirmed the important role music plays in the faith of believers, adding that praises and worship helps to build an effective relationship with God. She commended each of the choirs for their wonderful song ministrations. She expressed gratitude to the University of Ghana for instituting the choral music festival, noting that the festival is indeed a good platform to bring people together to fellowship with the Creator. 

The participating choirs were presented with certificates of participation. Present at the ceremony were members of the some university officials, members of the university community, students, and the general public.
