Professor Julius Fobil, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, and other senior officers of the College have visited the family of the late Professor Emeritus Emmanuel Quaye Archampong to commiserate with them.

The Provost was accompanied by Professor Margaret Lartey, Dean, University of Ghana Medical School; Mr. Michael Opare Atuah, College Secretary and Mr. Daniel Asiamah Ameyaw, Senior Assistant Registrar, College Administration. He expressed their condolences and assured the family of the University’s support to ensure a befitting burial for the late Professor Emeritus.

Provost and his team with the wife of the late Professor Emeritus Emmanuel Quaye Archampong

Professor Emeritus Emmanuel Quaye Archampong was a Ghanaian surgeon and academic. He was a professor emeritus of the University of Ghana Medical School.

Professor Emeritus Archampong was an honorary fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the International College of Surgeons and Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences of which he once served as vice-president of the sciences. Professor Emeritus Archampong was a foundation fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and has served as its president from 1997 to 1999. He was also a member and once president of the West African Society of Gastroenterologists.  

Professor Emeritus Archampong has been recipient of a number of national honours. In 2006, he was a recipient of the Order of the Volta Award for his outstanding service to the nation. He had significantly contributed in diverse ways in bringing Ghana to the world map in the field of science. In recognition of his contributions to the nation, he will be given a state-assisted burial.
